Do you assess for tongue tie?If your baby has been assessed with tongue tie or other oral restrictions either by another provider or you think your baby is tongue tied, come see us. With every visit we do thorough, detailed an oral assessment and will make appropriate referrals & recommendations. We take a serious, comprehensive team approach to helping babies be their best feeding selves with minimal intervention. However, if we have been working together to solve all your breastfeeding & milk production issues, and baby is still struggling to feed effectively, when necessary we will help you navigate before, during and after the frenotomy, the procedure to correct the oral tethering. Unfortunately, tongue tie has received a lot of one-sided negative press recently. We are happy to discuss this issue with you and respect that you are the parents and you get to decide what you are comfortable doing. We will never try to talk you into doing any procedure and will explain everything that we are seeing and provide you with links to evidenced-based articles so that you can make a well-informed decision about your baby’s care.

Are we in-network with any insurance plans?Yes! * We are in-network with Aetna. Visit our Fees and Insurance page for more information on specifics. Other than Aetna, most of our United Health Care and Anthem clients get coverage through The Lactation Network (TLN). It might take 24- 48 hrs to hear back from TLN but you can go ahead and still schedule an appointment. We will both be notified of your status, but do let us know that you have applied. If you have Cigna, you will likely get coverage with Wildflower Healthcare. The link will tell you within minutes if you have coverage. If you are a CT state employee with Anthem and do not get approved for coverage by TLN click here for more information.
-
If I am self-pay what will a consult cost me?The least expensive option is to come to our office but many prefer to do a home visit. We will always provide a “superbill” (official receipt) so you can send it in to your insurance company either for reimbursement or to go towards your deductible. More info on self-pay fees here.
-
How do I pay?You can can use your HSA (Health Savings Account), credit card, check or cash.
-
What type of visit do I need?If you are seeing us for the first time or are a returning client with a new baby, please chose an “Initial” consult. If you are pregnant, please chose a prenatal consult. Schedule this type of appointment after 35 weeks of pregnancy if you are having one baby; after 30 weeks if you are carrying multiples. We love private prenatal consults! If we saw you when you were pregnant and now have had the baby, please schedule an “initial” consult, not a follow-up — we haven’t yet met your new baby! If you are a new client needing guidance with a baby who won’t take a bottle, please chose an “initial” consult.
-
How many visits will I need to solve my problems? It’s impossible to be to predict how many visits you will need. It depends on the complexity of the situation. Most feeding issues require multiple visits however, on average of 3-6 visits. Nothing makes us happier to “graduate” you and your baby once we have gotten you to a better place.
-
Do you guarantee you will solve our problems? We wish we could boast a 100% success rate, but that would be false advertising. We do promise to be good listeners, take our time, respect your personal feeding goals, not judge your parenting choices and provide you with evidenced-base information to help you make the choices that feel most comfortable to you.
